Thailand and the United Nations

Thailand has been a member of the United Nations since the sixteenth of December, 1946. Thailand has ratified a number of United Nations environmental, human rights and labour treaties and conventions and is a strong supporter of UN peacekeeping operations. Thailand is the regional hub for United Nations organizations and systems in Asia, with more than twenty eight regional offices of specialised UN agencies, Organizations and projects which include:

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) has its head office in Thailand along with the Asia Pacific regional centre for the UN Development Program (UNDP-APRC). In addition the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the International Organization of Migration are also situated in Thailand, which are treated as part of the UNCT-Thailand even though they are partner organizations.
